Cornhole

Basic Rules

  • Players take turns throwing all 4 of their bags
  • Each toss is awarded (1) point for every bean bag remaining on the top of the board at the end of the “inning” and (3) points for each bean bag that goes in the hole
  • Scores “cancel each other out”: in other words, if both players each throw 4 points then no one claims a point. Example: if one player scores 4 points and the other person scores 5 points, then the score for the end of that inning is 1-0 in favor of the person that scored 5 points with their toss
  • The Cornhole / Bean bag toss match shall be played until the first team of contestants reaches or exceeds 21 points at the completion of an inning. The winning team needs to win by two or more points

Scoring

  • Any bag that has touched the ground outside of the hole = 0 points
  • Bag "in the hole" = 3 points (can be “hole in one” or bumped in by any other bag).
  • Bag "in the count" = 1 point (Remember, bag cannot touch the ground at any point once tossed)

Delivery

  • Singles play: Both players toss from the same end of the court
  • Doubles play: Teammates toss from opposite ends of the court (representatives of each team will be at both ends of the court)
  • Bags must be tossed from the "pitcher's box" (anywhere behind the line defined by the front of the box nearest to the players) - player may not switch sides within a given "inning"
  • Each individual contestant shall pitch the bag within 20 seconds. The time shall start when the contestant steps onto the pitcher's box with the intention of pitching
  • Pitching past the front of the box is a foul, and cancels any points scored with that toss
  • The contestant who scored in the previous inning shall pitch first in the next inning. If neither pitcher scores, the contestant who scored last regardless of how many innings go by shall pitch first in the next inning
